Job Description

Summary of Role

The Senior Quality Control Technician, HVAC is responsible for reviewing and closing out project milestone packages, including sales and design plans, documentation, installation photos, and verification measures for HVAC installation and service projects. The primary goal is to ensure high-quality standards, verify compliance with specifications, and identify necessary remediations to maintain system performance and customer satisfaction, aiming for systems designed to operate efficiently for 15+ years. The role also involves evaluating HVAC monitoring and control platforms to verify proper configuration and ensure systems meet design specifications and energy efficiency goals.

Daily project throughput review will be conducted to approve or reject project milestones, with feedback communicated to external contractors or partners. The technician will support quality improvement initiatives and may perform on-site inspections, including accessing mechanical rooms, rooftops, and ductwork to assess installation quality and provide feedback.

Strategic/Tactical Responsibilities

  • Review and close out project photos, documents, and designs in detail.
  • Apply HVAC quality control standards and system operation criteria.
  • Verify system performance data and ensure installed equipment aligns with specifications.
  • Inspect HVAC control and monitoring platforms for correct configuration and functionality.
  • Provide feedback for rejected submissions and guide resolution.
  • Report to the Program Manager and Leadership to improve products.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve milestone package rejections promptly.
  • Stay updated on industry standards and emerging technologies.
  • Develop and refine quality control processes, installation guidelines, and training programs.
  • Manage partner support requests via chat or ticketing systems, addressing escalations.
  • Analyze data for trends and improvement areas, recommending corrective actions.
  • Conduct training for junior technicians to enhance team skills.
  • Perform site inspections, assessing mechanical, structural, and electrical components of HVAC installations.

Success Metrics

  • Reduce post-installation service calls through thorough review.
  • Respond to project milestone submissions within 72 hours.
  • Address partner support inquiries within 24 hours.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years in a technical or construction role within HVAC; residential preferred.
  • Experience with problem-solving or project management across departments.
  • Familiarity with HVAC system design and energy standards preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to influence contractors.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and tools like G-Suite, Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to access mechanical rooms, rooftops, or confined spaces, working in various weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to stand, kneel, or bend during inspections.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and PPE use.
