Job Description
Summary/Objectives:

The Senior Quality Technician - Laboratory position is responsible for managing the quality lab and its activities. This includes performing dimensional analysis on new production parts and analyzing part capability during production cycles.

Responsibilities include managing calibration activities for gauges, validating products, fixtures, and tooling for engineering and manufacturing departments, and ensuring that lab activities meet engineering, production, and customer needs.

Essential Functions:
  • Manage all laboratory activities and workload requests.
  • Maintain and update the Lab Scope and calibration manual for the North Carolina Lab, ensuring ongoing audits.
  • Support APQP Launch team by reviewing customer prints and engineering drawings to identify quality requirements.
  • Manage validation processes for fixtures and tooling, including documentation.
  • Provide training and guidance to Quality and Production employees as needed.
  • Participate in process improvement projects to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and improve performance.
  • Determine process capability for developed processes.
  • Manage calibration systems, perform calibrations, record results, and maintain cleanliness and records for third-party calibrations.
  • Conduct validation for new parts and process changes, including dimensional inspections using CMM/PC DMIS and Polyworks.
  • Perform annual layouts as required.
  • Select products for testing at specific production stages to assess dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment as needed.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Communicate with other departments.
  • Adhere to company policies and perform other duties as assigned.

Key performance metrics include timely calibration, addressing past due calibrations, PPAP submissions, tooling/fixture validations, annual layouts, and maintaining asset records.
