Job summary
Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer (Structural) to join our team and support fabrication, fitting, welding, and non‑destructive testing processes. You will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to ensure quality standards are defined and met across complex naval structures.
Must have a Bachelor's in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program, with 9+ years of exempt experience (or advanced degrees with proportional experience; PhD with 4+
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 9+ years of exempt experience; advanced degrees may reduce required years.
- U.S. citizenship required; relocation not offered.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing to ensure quality standards are established.
- Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.
- Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation/control systems and protocols for procedures.
- Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
- Ensures corrective measures meet reliability standards and documentation is compliant with requirements.
- Performs deckplate surveillance to ensure processes conform to established standards.
- Candidates should be familiar with Technical Publications and Navy Welding Specifications.
