Job summary

Howden Re is seeking a Python-focused developer to lead the creation and deployment of Python-based applications within its Modeling and Analytics team, based in Edina, Minnesota. The role emphasizes innovative analytical offerings and rapid solution delivery to support catastrophe reinsurance placements.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in mathematics or CS, with hands-on Python experience and AI/ML model development, plus data cleaning and analysis skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance or similar analytical major.
• Proven experience in Python application development, with a focus on efficiency and innovation
• Solid understanding of AI/ML methodologies and ability to develop, train, validate and deploy models, including LLM’s
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Experience manipulating, cleaning, and analyzing data
• Able to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
• Effective communicator, both verbal and written
• Able to collaborate effectively across disciplines
• Experience in SQL, React.js, and FastAPI are a plus
