Job summary

Howden Re is seeking a Director on the Catastrophe Analytics team to advise clients in managing catastrophe risk. You will collaborate with colleagues to apply outputs from catastrophe models and deliver innovative analytics in a collaborative, results-driven environment.

The role requires 8+ years in catastrophe modeling and proficiency with SQL, Excel, R, Python, Power BI, and ArcGIS. Experience with Verisk Touchstone or RMS RiskLink is preferred; ARe designation is a plus.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of catastrophe modeling and risk management experience.
• Proficiency in data analysis, manipulation, and visualization tools and languages (SQL, Excel, R, Python, Power BI, ArcGIS).
• Experience with cat modeling software (Verisk Touchstone, RMS RiskLink) and understanding of model methodology.
• Knowledge of property insurance and reinsurance; ARe designation is a plus.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a results-driven environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance or similar analytical major.
• Legally authorized to work in the US.
• Base salary range for this role is $130,000-190,000, depending on experience and location.

Responsibilities

• Execute all aspects of catastrophe modeling including data prep, validation, portfolio analysis and post-processing.
• Address queries from internal/external stakeholders on property exposure data, real-time cat events, model validation and risk views.
• Use proprietary software to design and manage catastrophe reinsurance programs.
• Improve analytical processes to deliver better client results.
• Establish strong relationships with colleagues, clients and reinsurers.
