Job summary

Howden is seeking an Associate Director for the Catastrophe Analytics R&D team to advise clients on catastrophe risk, splitting time between servicing clients (25–50%) and R&D (50–75%). You will work with an analytics team to develop innovative solutions in a collaborative, results-driven environment.

Required: 4+ years in catastrophe modeling, proficiency with SQL/Excel/R/Python/Power BI/ArcGIS, and experience with cat modeling software such as Verisk Touchstone or RMS RiskLink.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience in catastrophe modeling and risk management.
• Proficient in data analysis, manipulation and visualization; strong programming skills.
• Experience with cat modeling software and understanding of model methodology.
• Knowledge of property insurance and reinsurance; ARe designation is a plus.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; able to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Execute all aspects of catastrophe modeling: data prep, validation, portfolio analysis.
• Report results, visualize data, and map findings for stakeholders.
• Respond to queries on property exposure data, real-time events, and risk views.
• Design and manage catastrophe reinsurance programs using proprietary tools.
• Validate catastrophe models with external data sources and adjust as needed.
• Build strong relationships with colleagues, clients and reinsurers.
