Job summary

Haddad Plumbing and Heating Inc. in Newark, NJ is seeking a Purchaser to source and buy all materials and equipment for projects. The Purchaser will manage vendor negotiations, purchase orders, cost verification, and delivery coordination to meet schedules.

The ideal candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in vendor relationships, able to work independently, and capable of guiding purchasing staff. This is a full-time role reporting to the Purchasing Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 3 years of purchasing experience, preferably in plumbing/HVAC.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Procure material and equipment by negotiating cost, delivery schedule, and terms with vendors.
• Issue and verify all costs of purchase orders according to the project estimate.
• Manage purchase orders to ensure accurate tracking and expediting as needed.
• Seek and maintain strong relationships with internal team members and vendors.
• Confirm with vendors to acknowledge and ensure punctual delivery.
• Follow up and resolve issues related to back orders and returns promptly.
• Find and evaluate new vendors to improve cost and quality of material and equipment.
• Participate in project meetings to understand delivery schedules.
