Job summary

Haddad Plumbing and Heating Inc. in Newark, NJ seeks an Assistant Purchaser to support the Purchasing Manager in sourcing and purchasing materials and equipment.

You will assist with purchase orders, cost verification, inventory tracking, and vendor coordination to ensure on-time delivery at competitive prices. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within purchasing while collaborating with internal teams and vendors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of purchasing experience, preferably in plumbing/HVAC.
• Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and MS Word.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Accurately verify incoming and outgoing Purchase Orders and Packing Slips.
• Track and update inventory with accurate records in inventory systems.
• Create purchase orders and monitor their status.
• Verify costs of purchase orders according to project estimates.
• Present reports on inventory levels, discrepancies, and related data.
• Negotiate costs, delivery schedules and terms with vendors.
• Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery.
• Participate in project meetings to understand delivery schedules.
• Assist with various purchasing tasks as requested by the Purchasing Manager.
