Haddad Plumbing and Heating Inc. in Newark, NJ is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead sourcing and procurement of materials and equipment for commercial plumbing and HVAC projects.

You will negotiate costs and delivery terms with vendors, issue and verify purchase orders, and coordinate deliveries to meet project schedules. You will supervise purchasing staff and maintain strong internal and vendor relationships.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• 5 years of experience in purchasing, preferably plumbing/HVAC.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Procure materials by negotiating costs, delivery schedules, and terms with vendors.
• Issue and verify purchase orders according to project estimates.
• Manage purchase orders for accurate tracking and expediting.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and vendors.
• Confirm with vendors to ensure punctual delivery.
• Follow up on back orders and returns promptly.
• Find and evaluate new vendors to improve cost and quality.
• Participate in project meetings to understand delivery schedules.
• Train and guide assistant purchaser and purchasing clerk.
• Verify and monitor purchases and work by the assistant purchaser.
• Meet daily with the assistant purchaser and clerk to ensure accuracy.
