Job summary

Mattel is seeking an Sr Associate Managing Editor to support editorial and content development workflows across licensed and global publishing programs. You will coordinate schedules, freelancers, and packagers, oversee asset management, and drive operational excellence from manuscript through print-ready production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Publishing, English, Communications, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of experience in book publishing or publishing operations.
• Experience managing multiple book projects from manuscript through production.
• Experience coordinating external vendors, freelancers, packagers, or creative partners.
• Familiarity with editorial, design, and production workflows for illustrated books or children's publishing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate editorial workflows across multiple publishing programs.
• Manage freelance and packager workflows for manuscripts, revisions, artwork, and materials.
• Oversee eBook production workflows and metadata validation.
• Perform quality control reviews of editorial deliverables and digital files.
• Coordinate project handoffs between Editorial, Design, Production, Licensing, and Global Publishing.
• Maintain project documentation and reporting tools for schedule visibility.
