Job summary

Town of South Windsor seeks an experienced municipal engineer to lead the planning, organization and supervision of engineering services for public works projects and facilities. You will review private developments and provide engineering consultations to Town departments, boards and residents.

Registration as a Professional Engineer in Connecticut is required; CT Land Surveyor registration is desirable; a valid CT driver's license is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; six years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience; two years of unit or project supervisory experience.
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering.
• Thorough knowledge of construction contract administration and cost estimating.
• Considerable knowledge of land surveying and soils.
• Considerable knowledge of applicable policies, laws and regulations affecting unit activities.
• Considerable knowledge of modern supervisory practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and direct activities of a municipal engineering shop.
• Supervise employees and consultants in designing, reviewing, and inspecting public works projects.
• Prepare specifications and cost estimates for proposed projects and coordinate with other agencies.
• Review and recommend on change orders; accept work by contractors upon completion.
• Provide technical consultation to Town Boards and Commissions.
• Oversee updating maps and related records; manage budgets and capital projects.
