Job summary

Role Description

The Civil Project Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Meriden, CT. This position is responsible for supporting and leading civil engineering design efforts for public works and infrastructure projects, including bridge and roadway improvements, storm drainage, water and wastewater, and site development. Day-to-day tasks include preparing engineering plans and specifications, performing calculations. The Civil Project Engineer collaborates with project managers, other engineers, and CAD staff, attends project meetings, and communicates design requirements with clients and regulatory agencies. The role also involves conducting field visits, assisting with construction administration and observation, reviewing submittals, and performing quality control checks to ensure compliance with standards, codes, and project requirements.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Design for public works and infrastructure projects.
• Experience with highway or bridge design, Stormwater Management, including drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and regulatory compliance.
• Skills in Site Development, such as grading, utilities, roadway layout, and permitting support.
• Commitment to Quality Control, including plan reviews, adherence to design standards, and accurate documentation.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; EIT or PE licensure in Connecticut (or ability to obtain) preferred.
• Familiarity with relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD/Civil 3D, stormwater modeling tools) and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team setting.
• Ability to conduct occasional field work, including site visits and construction observation, and maintain a valid driver's license.
