Job summary

Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) in Brooklyn, NY seeks an IT Project Specialist to lead complex public-safety technology initiatives from planning through closeout. You will coordinate city staff, consultants, and vendors, ensuring alignment with priorities and governance standards.

The role requires 12+ years in large-scale infrastructure and enterprise projects, plus strong vendor management and executive communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in computer science, engineering, HCI, interactive media, data visualization, communication or related field with four years of related experience; or
• Associate degree with six years of related experience; or
• Bachelor degree with eight years of related experience; or
• Education/experience equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, high-visibility public safety and technology initiatives through full project lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, and governance documentation.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams of City staff, consultants, vendors, and stakeholder agencies.
• Provide status reporting to executive leadership and manage escalations.
• Oversee budgeting, risk/issue management, and PMO adherence.
• Support procurement and vendor deliverables (SOWs, contracts, RFPs).
• Review artifacts: requirements, architecture, testing, operations readiness, and transition plans.
• Mentor PMs to improve PMO processes and operational maturity.
