Job summary

City of Avondale is seeking Police Communications Dispatchers (Lateral) to join the Avondale Police Department on site. You must have public safety communications experience and at least two consecutive years in a dispatch center, with recent public safety work within the last 12 months.

Responsibilities include handling 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls, inputting data into the CAD system, and coordinating fire and medical responses.

Qualifications

• Public safety dispatch experience required: at least 2 consecutive years.
• Must have worked in a public safety role within the last 12 months.
• TOC within 6 months of hire; certification renewed every 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Answer 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls for Avondale Police Department and coordinate fire/medical response.
• Input essential information into CAD for timely dispatch.
• Dispatch responders via CAD and radio; maintain unit status and logs.
• Look up information across computer systems to support officers.
• Perform tactical dispatch as needed and manage office equipment.
