Job summary

The Department of Public Safety of the State of Arizona is seeking a Police Communications Dispatcher to join the Phoenix team. The position operates a multi-channel radio console and multi-line phone, coordinating information and ensuring CAD systems function smoothly.

During training you will be supervised; later you will work with limited supervision in a 24/7 dispatch center handling 9-1-1 calls and coordinating with field units. Requires certifications and typing proficiency.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED and 1 year of clerical, customer service or public contact experience.
• ACJIS Terminal Operator Certification within six months of hire.
• Must type minimum 40 words per minute or equivalent keystrokes in CAD and/or other computer programs within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate a multi-channel radio console and a multi-line telephone.
• Maintain CAD and other computer systems.
• Receive, coordinate and disseminate critical information from various sources.
• Maintain radio contact with mobile/field units to monitor response and provide support.
• Work in a 24/7 Communications Center answering 9-1-1 calls.
