Job summary

City of New York’s NYC Health Department is seeking a City Research Scientist to help develop and implement policy priorities for the Division of Disease Control. The role involves conducting legislative and regulatory analysis, developing policy strategies, and coordinating cross-divisional policy workgroups.

The position reports to senior leadership, requires advanced degrees in public health or related fields, and includes supervising staff while contributing to policy and programmatic

Qualifications

• Master's degree in physical, biological, environmental science or public health.
• Doctorate with specialization in an appropriate field and supervisory/research experience (or Master’s plus three years of experience).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement policy priorities for the Division.
• Conduct research to inform positions on laws, regulations, and policies.
• Draft comments, position statements, and memoranda on proposed laws and regulations.
• Coordinate with bureaus and other divisions on policy initiatives.
• Supervise staff (CRS II).
• Prepare policy-related presentations and attend trainings/conferences.
