Job summary

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking a City Research Scientist to advance data-driven public health initiatives in New York City. You will lead analyses, design research studies, and supervise data activities across divisions to improve health outcomes and advance equity.

This hybrid role requires advanced degrees and strong communication, with responsibilities including building data pipelines, maintaining data warehouses, and delivering actionable insights to

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in physical, biological or environmental science or public health.
• Doctorate with supervisory/ research experience in the relevant field.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above per NYC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop data pipelines and ETL processes using R/Python to support Salesforce data workflows.
• Design, implement, and maintain provider data warehouses and analytics.
• Perform data linking (deterministic/probabilistic) to deduplicate Salesforce objects.
• Produce analyses on data pipelines and business processes to identify trends and anomalies.
• Create Salesforce Reports and Dashboards to summarize information.
• Communicate complex technical data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support cross-divisional data-sharing initiatives as directed by leadership.
