Job summary

Washington County (MN) is seeking a Senior Eligibility Specialist on the Adults Economic Assistance team to determine eligibility for SNAP, General Assistance, MSA, Housing Support, and Medical Assistance. The role includes targeted case reviews and appeals, with scope to train new staff and handle complex cases.

The position involves reviewing work for policy compliance, developing materials for staff, and representing the agency in hearings and workgroups.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and two years of experience as an Eligibility Specialist.
Completion of the Minnesota State College Public Welfare Financial Worker or Human Services program may substitute one year of work experience.
Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks across public assistance programs.

Responsibilities

Provide on the job training for new and experienced Eligibility Specialists.
Prepare cases for appeals and attend appeals hearings.
Review work to ensure conformity to policy and procedures and provide feedback to supervisor and staff.
Develop reference materials and instructions for staff.
Represent the agency in legal settings and workgroups.
Develop and conduct orientation sessions for department employees.
Complete or coordinate case management reports to improve data accuracy and outcomes.
