Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Sr. Distribution PSM Manager to drive Process Safety Management strategies across locations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

You will lead documentation, awareness, audits, and training to build a culture of safety and readiness in distribution operations. This role requires a Bachelor's in Manufacturing/Engineering with 8+ years of PSM leadership, ammonia refrigeration experience, and the ability to travel up to 75%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or related field; 8+ years PSM management responsibilities in a manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership.
• Experience with Anhydrous Ammonia Refrigeration.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations with emphasis on PSM.
• Extensive knowledge of PHA methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, What If).
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Willingness to travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Create, support, and implement strategies to strengthen PSM compliance across locations.
• Determine applicability of current and pending rules related to PSM and ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Partner with plant personnel to manage all aspects of PSM and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with third-party PSM auditors for audits and reporting.
• Develop, evaluate, and recommend process and equipment improvements for safety.
• Enforce PSM auditing schedules, PHA reviews, and Mechanical Integrity testing.
• Lead root cause analysis and preventive/corrective actions after upset conditions or ammonia releases.
• Develop and maintain PSM KPIs and lead safety activities tied to PSM and ammonia refrigeration.
