Job summary

Veranova is seeking a Principal Process Safety Management Engineer to serve as the site technical authority for process safety in West Deptford, NJ. The role drives governance, independent assurance, and risk-based decision-making across operations, engineering, and EHS, including leadership of PHAs, MOC, and major risk reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer, CPP or CSP certification preferred.
• 12+ years of process safety experience in high-hazard environments.
• Experience governance of PHAs, MOCs, investigations, audits, and risk-reduction initiatives.
• Knowledge of OSHA PSM, EPA RMP requirements and recognized engineering practices.
• Ability to influence senior leaders and lead across functions.

Responsibilities

• Be the site technical authority for process safety and governance of decisions affecting major accident risk.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM and internal standards and other applicable regulations.
• Advise leadership on risk acceptance, safeguards adequacy, and investment priorities.
• Lead PHAs and risk studies such as HAZOP, What-If/Checklist, and LOPA.
• Govern MOC and pre-startup safety review activities and ensure appropriate impacts are addressed.
• Provide safety leadership for capital projects from concept to commissioning and handover.
• Own PSM performance reporting and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead investigations of process safety events and high-potential near misses.
