Job summary

Delaware County Job and Family Services seeks a Director to oversee Protective Services, develop and implement policy, and lead client service programs for child protection, adult protective services, and child care. The role includes supervision, fiscal planning, and ensuring compliance with state laws.

Responsibilities include budgeting, program development, policy recommendations, and collaboration with multiple agencies to ensure high-quality services for county residents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and preferably a postgraduate degree.
• Minimum of five (5) years related work experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities in child protection and/or adult protective services, supervision, fiscal planning and control and social service programs.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in human/social services guidelines and applicable laws.
• Must have a valid Ohio driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and manages Protective Services activities including reporting of child and adult abuse and neglect, screening, investigations, in-home services, foster care licensing, adoption, post-adoption and adult protective services.
• Directs intake screening and review of referrals from various sources including court and agencies outside the state.
• Ensures investigations comply with Ohio laws and codes.
• Directs assessment and service planning for child placement decisions and related outcomes.
• Provides guidance on client emergencies including 24/7 availability.
• Reviews laws and regulations and recommends policy changes to the Director.
• Coordinates with fiscal division on budgets, contracts, and fee collections.
• Manages departments, program delivery, personnel, and operations; assesses program effectiveness.
