Job summary

Delaware County in Ohio seeks a senior leader to oversee the JFS Protective Services Division, guiding policy, program development, and day-to-day operations. The role ensures safeguarding children and adults while supervising staff and coordinating with courts, agencies, and the Director of Job and Family Services.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in a related field, 5+ years in protective services, and a valid Ohio driver's license; postgraduate study is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; postgraduate degree preferred.
• Minimum of five years in child/adult protective services with progressive responsibilities.
• Valid Ohio driver's license and acceptable driving record; county driving qualifications required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Protective Services activities including reporting of abuse/neglect, screening, investigations, in-home services, foster/adoption services, and adult protective services.
• Direct review and screening of referrals from agencies, courts, and clients; coordinate service delivery.
• Ensure investigations comply with Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Administrative Code timelines and rules.
• Lead diagnostics, evaluation, and service planning to determine best placement or home-based support.
• Provide 24/7 guidance on emergencies; supervise policy implementation and program changes.
• Monitor laws and regulations, and recommend policy/ procedural updates to the Director.
• Coordinate with fiscal division on budgets, fee collections, and contracting.
• Manage department operations, staff performance, and organizational improvements.
• Foster collaboration with community partners and regional/state human services organizations.
