Job summary

American Electric Power in Roanoke, VA seeks an entry- to senior-level Protection and Controls Engineer Assoc to lead substation protection and control activities. You will design, review, and implement relay settings, study transmission protection schemes, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required for Engineer Assc; PE license encouraged for advancement.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering with ABET accreditation is the entry path.

Responsibilities

• Perform protection and control activities for substation projects (4kV-765kV).
• Prepare and review P&C scopes, settings, and relay deliverables.
• Model transmission impedances and perform short-circuit fault studies.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, and regulators to ensure project success.
