AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER is seeking engineers at multiple levels for on-site work in New Albany, OH. Responsibilities include reviewing protection and control activities for substation projects, developing P&C designs, and performing fault studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is encouraged and preferred for future PE licensing.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged/preferred for higher level roles.

Responsibilities

• Review relay protection and control activities for 4kV through 765kV substation projects.
• Prepare and/or review P&C engineering and designs for electrical substation projects.
• Participate in project scheduling, resource planning, and cost control for assigned projects.
• Provide engineering support for project installation, commissioning, checkout and troubleshooting.
• Review and approve P&C related work of other team members.
• Model transmission system impedances and perform short circuit fault studies.
• Perform area protection studies and recommend settings for transmission lines and stations.
• Review and evaluate P&C comments on transmission system planning proposals.
