Job summary
AVANGRID in Rochester, NY is seeking a Lead Engineer - Protection & Control to design and configure protection, data collection, and control equipment subsystems for electric delivery infrastructure. You will drive safe, timely project delivery and oversee protection schemes across transmission and substations.
The role requires 7+ years of engineering experience, a degree in electrical engineering, and PE eligibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
- 7+ years engineering experience preferred.
- Registered Professional Engineer or eligibility for certification required.
- Experience with protection systems, relay programming, and protection coordination is essential.
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze relay settings and coordination for transmission and substation protection.
- Lead engineering contractors and consultants on protection system settings for capital projects.
- Analyze disturbance events and develop actionable fault analysis reports for management.
- Lead NERC compliance programs for substation assets and assist audits.
- Review large customer interconnections and distributed energy resource interconnections to substations and circuits.
- Represent AVANGRID on regional and national committees.
