Job summary
The United Illuminating Company in Orange, CT is seeking a Lead Engineer – Protection & Control to oversee protection platforms for AVANGRID's transmission and substation projects in the Northeast. You will lead and mentor the Protection Engineering group, ensuring reliable delivery of power and high standards of safety.

Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with 7+ years in protection engineering.
- Expert knowledge of power system protection standards and compliance.
- Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, NESC, FERC, NERC, NPCC, NYISO, ISO-NE, NY PSC and ME PUC requirements.
Responsibilities
- Guide engineering design, estimation and analysis of protection systems for transmission and substation projects.
- Develop and coordinate system protection platform across AVANGRID and affiliates; oversee integration, criteria and commissioning plans.
- Lead studies to evaluate equipment performance and protection system effectiveness; provide engineering judgment to solve complex problems.
- Provide expertise in transmission fault event operations and clear fault analysis reports for management.
- Represent the company on regional and national committees; lead the Protection Engineering group’s technical development.
