Job summary

Avangrid is seeking an experienced engineer to design and configure automation, data collection, protection, and control subsystems for its electric delivery network in Kirkwood, NY. You will work as part of the engineering team to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery.

The role requires a strong background in protection systems, relay programming, and coordination analysis, with regulatory knowledge and PE eligibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer or eligibility for certification.
• Experience with ASPEN OneLiner, SEL & GE Relay Programming, IEC61850, and protection coordination analysis.
• Familiar with FERC, NERC, NPCC, and state regulations.
• Strong knowledge of power system analysis and protection fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Design relay settings and perform coordination analysis for transmission and substation protection.
• Lead engineering contractors and consultants on protection settings for capital projects.
• Analyze disturbance events and verify protection schemes operate correctly.
• Prepare fault analysis reports with actionable recommendations.
• Support NERC compliance programs and participate in audits.
• Review large interconnections and DER interconnections to networks.
• Represent AVANGRID on regional and national committees.
