Job summary

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or similar major.
• 5-8+ years of work experience in protection & control, power systems, substations, or renewable energy applications.
• Demonstrated experience in protection & control of HV systems.
• Experience with SEL products & tools.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Some travel is required (< 25%).
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection & control issues across high voltage substations, collection systems, and renewable plants, supporting outage investigations and reliability improvements.
• Provide technical support for PRC-028, PRC-029, PRC-030 regulatory requirements related to protection systems, including event reporting and corrective actions.
• Lead NERC PRC compliance efforts, including coordination, settings validation, and performance monitoring for standards such as PRC-005, PRC-019, PRC-025, PRC-027, and IBR-focused standards.
• Lead protection coordination and relay settings strategy across the fleet, ensuring alignment with system studies and interconnection requirements.
• Manage cross-functional projects, including fleet-wide procedure development and testing vendor onboarding.
• Develop, review, and maintain protection philosophies, relay settings, and coordination strategies.
• Mentor EE1-EE3 engineers and site teams in relay protection and NERC compliance interpretation.
• Represent Invenergy in external forums and industry groups as needed.
