Job summary

Invenergy LLC in Chicago, IL, is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager, Operations Engineering, to lead and develop a growing engineering team overseeing MV/HV substation, collection, and transmission systems across wind, solar, and storage facilities. The role blends hands-on technical support with people leadership in a hybrid office schedule.

Responsibilities include recruiting and mentoring engineers, prioritizing work, guiding critical decisions, and driving fleet-wide improvements,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience with demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of three-phase power systems, high voltage equipment & relay protection.
• Ability to support after-hours operational issues and travel (<20%).

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and develop engineers for the operating fleet.
• Supervise engineers, including workload prioritization and performance feedback.
• Prioritize engineering support across wind, solar, and storage facilities.
• Provide direct technical support initially, then build team capability.
• Review troubleshooting, maintenance recommendations, and event responses.
• Oversee electrical safety decisions and compliance with NERC/NETA.
• Support substation and balance of plant maintenance programs and testing.
• Lead process improvements and reliability initiatives across the fleet.
• Support budgeting, resource planning, and long-term project planning.
• Assist project/ construction teams during commissioning and turnover.
