Job summary

Ursa Major in Colorado is seeking a skilled propulsion engineer to own the design, analysis, and validation of liquid rocket engine systems from concept through production. You will mentor engineers, derive requirements, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, manufacturable solutions for multiple engine programs, while operating in a fast-paced defense environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience relevant to propulsion.
• Liquid propellant rocket engine design, test, or analysis experience.
• Proficiency with CAD and drafting tools.
• Experience with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Hands-on knowledge of fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Understanding of aerospace/defense industry standards.
• Ability to take ownership and lead large project scope.
• Capability to lead and delegate tasks within a team.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Liquid rocket engine design, analysis, and packaging to meet requirements.
• Clean sheet design and system integration of engine components.
• Modify components to improve performance or manufacturability.
• Mentor engineers on design, sizing, testing, and architecture.
• Derive requirements from top-level objectives.
• Create and update work instructions for assembly and tests.
• Assemble and test first article prototypes.
• Collaborate with interfacing teams for engine system integration and validation.
