Job summary

Ursa Major is seeking a skilled engineer to own fluid and mechanical propulsion design from concept to production. You will contribute to clean sheet designs, prototype testing, and cross-team collaboration on system architecture and development.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering, 4+ years of mechanical design, and experience with actuators and high-pressure fluids. A fast-paced environment and ownership mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 4+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Electromechanical and pneumatic actuator design experience.
• Experience testing high-pressure fluid systems.
• Proficiency with CAD and drafting.
• GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Strong understanding of industry standards.
• Ownership mindset and leadership capability.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean sheet design of fluid & mechanical engine components including gimbals, actuators, valves, and fluid systems.
• Design modifications to improve performance or manufacturability.
• Collaborate with engineers on component design, system sizing, testing, and architecture.
• Derive requirements from engine and test objectives.
• Create and update assembly work instructions and tests.
• Assemble and test first article prototypes.
• Coordinate with interfacing teams for engine integration.
• Support validation and iterative design during engine development.
