Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Senior Risk Control Specialist to own the Property Technical Discipline in the assigned territory. You will conduct quality risk assessments, assist customers with loss control, and mentor staff and specialists while partnering with Underwriting to support risk pricing.

You will travel as needed and deliver expert training on discipline topics, influencing risk reduction and maintaining high technical standards across the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a science discipline.
• Eight or more years of experience in property risk control/engineering.
• Certification in PE, CFPS, or similar risk control disciplines.
• Strong verbal and written communication to simplify complex technical information.
• Coaching and talent development to mentor others.
• Expert understanding of risk control’s role in commercial lines insurance products.
• Expert interpersonal and influencing skills to build credibility with customers and partners.
• Expert organizational and time management skills to manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a consistent field presence, spending 20%–50% of time with customers onsite or virtually.
• Conduct risk evaluations of high-complexity Travelers customers and share findings with Underwriting.
• Educate customers on risk management and influence adoption of recommended changes.
• Mentor Risk Control consultants and specialists, reviewing survey reports for accuracy.
• Develop expertise by studying emerging issues and tracking loss trends, and deliver targeted trainings.
