Job summary

COPT Defense Properties is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to manage the financial integrity of a portfolio of 25–35 buildings and approximately 100 leases. You will ensure GAAP compliance, maintain internal controls, and support SOX 404 requirements.

Responsibilities include reviewing NOI and leasing activity, budgeting and variance analysis, AR and balance sheet work, and coordinating with property managers to resolve issues. CPA preferred; travel occasionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Accounting required.
• CPA preferred.
• Five to seven years of related accounting experience required, with at least 2 years property accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete historical books for a portfolio of properties in GAAP compliance and internal controls.
• Review NOI, leasing activity, budgets, forecasts, and AR issues; provide variance analysis.
• Coordinate with property and asset managers to resolve financial discrepancies and prepare audit work papers.
• Oversee budgeting, 24‑month rolling forecast updates, and capital expenditure analysis.
