Job summary

Western National Insurance Group in Minnesota is seeking a Claims Manager to lead the Property team’s claims activities, ensuring quality handling and service while coaching staff to meet goals. You will supervise day-to-day operations for 1st party personal and commercial property claims, monitor regulatory compliance, and drive process improvements across the unit.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of claims processing and case management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of state laws, regulations, policies, and claims practices.
• Prior supervisory or management experience with coaching, directing and developing team members.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and solve complex problems.
• Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
• Sound judgment and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong organizational and facilitation skills.
• Proficiency with core systems and office software.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the assigned claims unit for 1st party personal and commercial property claims.
• Monitor, audit, and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Address complaints and inform management of significant issues.
• Manage team workload to ensure equitable distribution and timely processing.
• Coach, direct, and develop team members to meet goals.
• Provide daily leadership through staffing, performance management, training, and development.
• Maintain accountability for team performance and results.
• Interpret policies and guidelines and make impactful decisions.
• Apply claims knowledge to solve problems of broad scope.
• Analyze patterns to identify and implement solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with team members and partners.
• Use negotiation skills to communicate and resolve issue types.
• Participate in professional groups and incorporate best practices.
• Share information and process improvements with the team.
