RRD is seeking a detail-oriented proofreader/editor to ensure accuracy of complex legal documents. The role involves proofreading per policies, correcting spelling/grammar, and verifying proofs against markups.

You will oversee proofreading tasks, troubleshoot issues, meet deadlines, and maintain client communications. The ideal candidate has a strong grammar background, 3+ years in legal/banking contexts, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience preferably in a legal, banking or large corporate environment.
• Strong grammar and composition rules for editing and proofreading.
• English, journalism, proofreading experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of a legal timekeeping or job tracking system is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment, meeting deadlines.
• Attention to detail with accuracy and quality.
• Handle confidential documents and information.
• Ability to make independent decisions aligned with policy.
• Troubleshoot complex tasks or software and escalate when needed.

Responsibilities

• Proofread according to established policies and procedures.
• Identify and correct spelling, grammar, and verbiage errors in complex legal documents.
• Check corrected proofs against mark-up for comparison and QA.
• Detect formatting and compositional errors; correct independently or with colleagues.
• Oversee proofreading assignments and workflow within the team.
• Troubleshoot more complex requests and software/hardware problems.
• Use logs/tracking software for all assigned work.
• Meet contracted deadlines for accepting, completing, and delivering work.
• Communicate with peers, supervisor or client about job or deadline issues.
• Foster proactive service enhancements and client relationships.
• Train junior staff members and assist other teams with production tasks.
• Adhere to company and client site policies and use equipment cost-effectively.
