Job summary

CannonDesign seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC design for large-scale buildings across diverse sectors. You will mentor the team, manage complex projects, and ensure QAQC while engaging with clients through all project phases.

The role requires a US PE license, strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes, and proficiency in Revit and energy modeling tools. Remote work is possible within the U.S. with preference for candidates in major cities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of related experience.
• Current PE in the United States required.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.
• Experience with Revit, Trane Trace or Trane 3D Plus.
• Ability to work independently in all mechanical disciplines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a critical thinker.
• Must be highly analytical.
• Must be able to engage effectively with clients.
• Must be a fully qualified professional with latitude, and handle multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform and direct complex design of HVAC systems for large scale buildings; lead and mentor the team.
• Oversee and guide designers and engineering staff; participate in performance reviews.
• Direct work of staff and contribute to QAQC and independent reviews.
• Interface with clients and design team; attend Owner/Architect/Construction Administration meetings.
• Lead or participate in energy modeling and BIM (Revit) modeling for HVAC systems.
• Specify mechanical equipment (boilers, chillers, AHUs) and review shop drawings for conformance.
• Support project budgeting, change orders, and RFI responses; conduct site visits.
