Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in California is seeking a Project Manager to lead multi-discipline engineering projects from concept to completion. You will manage safety, schedules, budgets, and client relationships while coordinating design teams and risk reviews.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in engineering, 7+ years' experience (3+ in project management), and strong communication skills. PE/PMP preferred; travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited program.
• 7+ years of related experience in design engineering, including 3+ years managing engineering projects; master's degree can substitute for one year of experience.
• Demonstrated success in project management and proven ability to build client relationships.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to devise new approaches to problems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all aspects of multi-discipline engineering projects from concept to completion including safety, siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, and procurement.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.
• Serve as the primary client contact for coordination, budgeting, subcontracting, staffing, and satisfaction.
• Identify risks and lead internal and external risk reviews; coordinate with Legal as required.
• Manage internal project financials, provide cost forecasts, and report to leadership.
• Establish project teams and ensure efficient utilization of staff; manage all project communications.
• Lead submittals, proposals, and contract negotiations; pursue client opportunities.
