Job summary

The University of Vermont is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee a complex NSF-funded research-infrastructure cooperative agreement. You will coordinate planning, sponsor relations, financial stewardship, risk and quality management, governance, reviews, procurement, and cross-institution engagement across a national network of universities and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in bioscience, biomedical engineering, engineering, or related field with 4+ years managing complex projects.
• Experience managing federally sponsored projects, multi-institutional, with cross-organizational coordination.
• Experience as the main operational contact for a federal sponsor; leading reports and communications.
• Experience with project controls: schedules, WBS, budgets, forecasts, risk/quality, metrics, change control.
• Experience with business administration for complex programs: procurement, contracts, subawards, vendors, licenses, compliance.
• Scientific/technical knowledge to understand bioscience, microscopy, imaging, data workflows; translate across teams.
• Ability to work autonomously, influence stakeholders, and convert requirements to clear plans and reports.
• Experience planning advisory boards, reviews, meetings, workshops; strong written/oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational and business management of NSF-funded research infrastructure.
• Coordinate planning, sponsor relations, procurement, governance, and external engagement across a national network.
• Serve as primary liaison with NSF; coordinate deliverables without executing technical tasks.
• Translate sponsor requirements into institutional processes and actionable plans.
• Manage schedules, budgets, risks, and performance metrics; ensure compliance and records.
