Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for a data center project in Sterling, VA. You will lead and manage a large, complex project with accountability for schedule, budget, and quality, while guiding the project team and coordinating with clients and subs.

You will oversee risk management, procurement, and change control, ensuring safety and compliance, and mentoring team members to achieve project goals in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction experience in a PM or similar role.
• Commercial GC experience is required.
• Experience leading, developing, and mentoring a team.
• Industry-related college degree required or equivalent experience.
• Experience in senior living, student housing, hospitality, or lived-in product type construction is a plus.
• Strong project management skills and commercial construction knowledge.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex construction projects from start to finish, on time and within budget.
• Provide leadership to project teams and manage performance per goals.
• Identify and mitigate project risks; monitor risk factors.
• Lead client and stakeholder communication; manage expectations and issues.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and key stakeholders.
• Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and schedules; manage resources.
• Prepare and manage schedules, address long lead items, and initiate changes as needed.
• Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Produce monthly project status reports, owner billings, and financial risk assessments.
• Manage project budget, expenses, and ensure funds are allocated correctly.
• Implement QA/QC programs and identify areas for improvement.
• Suggest value engineering and scope reduction opportunities.
• Ensure safety plans are in place and communicated to team and subs.
• Assist with preconstruction efforts and buy-out processes.
• Detect constructability issues and address them promptly.
• Understand contracts, budgets, insurances, bonds, and change orders.
• Foster positive relationships with internal and external parties.
• Develop and mentor team members; delegate tasks and goals.
