Gryphon Oakwood is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join its Project Management team in Austin, Texas. You will provide overall project management direction on complex mechanical or electrical construction projects, leading cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Science, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2+ years of construction management experience.
  • Experience managing complex mechanical or electrical construction projects.
  • Experience in healthcare, higher education, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, data center environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, contracts, and financial management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • OSHA-30 certification preferred; must be obtained within six months of hire if not held.
  • Professional, diplomatic, and highly motivated approach.
  • Ability to satisfy jobsite-specific access and employment requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall project management direction on complex mechanical or electrical construction projects.
  • Lead project teams in partnership with project managers, superintendents, and other key personnel.
  • Evaluate scope, materials, methods, and options to develop optimal construction strategies.
  • Plan, organize, and staff key project positions with regional department heads.
  • Coordinate prefabrication opportunities with fabrication teams.
  • Establish objectives, policies, and performance standards per company requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and stakeholders.
  • Negotiate, prepare, and issue subcontracts.
  • Monitor and control activities through on-site supervision.
  • Prepare and maintain master schedules and variance reports to deliver on time and within budget.
  • Research and evaluate new materials based on functionality and cost.
  • Manage project finances including costs, billings, cash flow.
  • Manage project risks and coordinate resolution of issues.
  • Investigate issues and implement corrective measures.
  • Identify and pursue additional opportunities via change orders.
  • Ensure document controls comply with requirements.
  • Supervise and mentor Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers.
  • Support business development initiatives as required.]

Gryphon Oakwood is currently partnered with an established and growing MEP construction organization seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join its Project Management team in Austin, Texas.


The organization is experiencing continued growth and is expanding its project management team. This opportunity is well suited for an experienced mechanical or electrical construction professional with a strong background in complex commercial projects across industries such as healthcare, higher education, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, and data center environments.


Responsibilities


  • Provide overall project management direction on complex mechanical or electrical construction projects.

  • Assume primary project leadership responsibilities in partnership with project managers, superintendents, general superintendents, and other key project personnel.

  • Evaluate project scope, material specifications, construction methods, and project alternatives to develop optimal construction strategies.

  • Plan, organize, and staff key project positions in coordination with regional department heads and project leadership.

  • Coordinate with project superintendents and fabrication teams to identify and implement prefabrication opportunities and alternatives.

  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards in accordance with company requirements.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders.

  • Negotiate, prepare, and issue subcontracts.

  • Monitor and control construction activities through administrative direction of on-site project superintendents.

  • Prepare, issue, and maintain master project schedules and variance reports to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.

  • Research and evaluate new materials based on functionality, performance, reliability, quality, cost, and contract requirements.

  • Manage the financial aspects of projects including costs, billings, collections, profitability, and cash flow.

  • Manage project risks and develop solutions to overcome system coordination issues and other construction challenges.

  • Investigate potentially serious project issues and implement corrective measures as required.

  • Identify and pursue additional project opportunities through change orders.

  • Ensure project document controls comply with contract requirements and company standards.

  • Supervise and mentor Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers when assigned.

  • Support additional project management and business development initiatives as required.


Qualifications


  • 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent technical training and related experience considered.

  • 2+ years of construction management experience.

  • Experience managing complex mechanical or electrical construction projects.

  • Experience within healthcare, higher education, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, data center, or similar complex project environments preferred.

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, project management, scheduling, contracts, and financial management.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn and utilize new software systems.

  • OSHA-30 certification preferred; certification must be obtained within six months of hire if not currently held.

  • Professional, diplomatic, courteous, and highly motivated approach.

  • Ability to successfully satisfy jobsite-specific access and employment requirements.
