Job summary

MKH Search is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical construction projects in Texas. You will manage from preconstruction through completion, ensuring safety, on-time delivery, budget adherence, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has deep HVAC, plumbing, and piping expertise, with a proven track record managing $10M+ projects and coordinating with General Contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience managing commercial mechanical construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
  • Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and cost management.
  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, contracts, and schedules.
  • Experience working for or with a mechanical contractor is highly preferred.
  • Projects valued at $10M–$15M+ are common in this role.
  • Proficiency with construction project management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites within Texas.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join our growing team in Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.


This is an excellent opportunity for a proven Mechanical Project Manager with strong experience across HVAC, plumbing, piping, and commercial MEP construction who is looking to take ownership of high-value projects and work with an established mechanical contractor.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage mechanical construction projects from contract award through final completion.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and cost controls.

  • Coordinate closely with General Contractors, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and internal teams.

  • Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project documentation.

  • Monitor project costs, labor, materials, and equipment to ensure projects remain within budget.

  • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor scopes, invoices, and change orders.

  • Lead regular project meetings and provide clear updates to clients and project stakeholders.

  • Identify potential project risks and develop solutions to keep projects moving forward.

  • Work closely with Project Superintendents to ensure field activities align with project requirements and schedules.

  • Ensure all mechanical installations comply with applicable codes, specifications, and quality standards.

  • Assist with estimating, budgeting, and project handover when required.

  • Maintain strong client and General Contractor relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Support project closeout, commissioning, punch lists, and final turnover.


Requirements


  • 5+ years of experience managing commercial mechanical construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and/or other mechanical systems.

  • Experience working for a mechanical contractor is highly preferred.

  • Experience managing projects valued at $10M / $15M+ is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules.

  • Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and cost management.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans and specifications.

  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with construction project management software and Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

  • Willingness to travel to project sites within Texas as required.
