Job summary

AFRY USA is seeking a Project Manager II to lead complex cross-functional projects in Birmingham, AL. You will define scope, manage budgets, resources, and schedules, and mitigate risks to ensure client satisfaction.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and financial acumen; professional registration and PMP are preferred. You will collaborate with multiple disciplines and support contract changes, proposals, and monthly reporting.

Qualifications

• Must possess in-depth knowledge and a working background in project management principles.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or architectural discipline or equivalent combination of academic training and related engineering experience.
• Prefer 5 years of engineering experience with a minimum of 2 to 7 years of managing projects.
• Familiarity with project accounting, estimating, and scheduling procedures and systems is preferred.
• Professional registration as an engineer or architect is preferred.
• PMP certification is preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to make effective presentations to clients and technical groups.
• Industry focus: Chemical & Bio Refining, Pulp & Paper, Mining and Metals.
• Strong computer-based skills in Word, Excel, Access, Adobe, Outlook, and Windows.

Responsibilities

• Develop written project plans to establish the project charter, scope of work, cost and schedule parameters.
• Manage the project in accordance with AFRY US LLC’s Project Management Procedures and the contractual agreement with the client.
• Ensure compliance with scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
• Serve as client liaison, including initiating and participating in meetings and conferences.
• Supervise personnel assigned to the project team and coordinate with home office and resident staff.
• Continuously monitor project status and inform management and client of developments.
• Participate in negotiations of contract changes with the client.
• Prepare monthly project reports and earned value / resource loading plans.
