Job summary

Pickett, a highly innovative surveying and engineering company with over 60 years of experience, is hiring a Senior Project Manager to lead complex engineering programs for electric utilities. You will manage project delivery, financial performance, and client satisfaction, while mentoring junior staff and supporting business development across existing and new clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical or related engineering discipline (preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience managing engineering or infrastructure projects (required).
  • PE registration or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (required).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of engineering projects for public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities.
  • Provide overall leadership for project execution including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety performance.
  • Oversee financial performance and profitability of assigned projects and develop recovery plans when needed to maintain project performance.
  • Serve as primary client relationship manager, maintaining strong client partnerships and identifying opportunities for additional services.
  • Lead coordination between engineering leads, project teams, and functional managers to ensure timely delivery of project deliverables.
  • Develop and review project financial reports, schedules, and resource forecasts in collaboration with Accounting and Project Controls.
  • Report project performance, financial status, schedule, and risks to both clients and internal leadership.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to project managers, engineers, and project staff, supporting their professional development and project management capabilities.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and promote collaboration across engineering, project controls, accounting and support functions.
  • Assist with and lead proposal development, including scope definition, scheduling and cost estimates for RFP responses.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development teams to expand existing client relationships and identify new opportunities.
  • Prepare and present technical and project performance reports to clients and internal leadership.
  • Work with Accounting and Project Controls on client invoicing, project financial tracking, and accounts receivable.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
