Job description

Senior Project Manager - Creative Projects & Production
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Work Location: Hybrid
Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 (dependent on experience)
Overview

Tomorrow is partnering with a global creative studio that uses art, culture and design to create permanent, site-specific experiences for leading brands and institutions.

They are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join their New York studio, leading complex creative projects from the initial client brief through design development, fabrication, installation and aftercare.

Projects will span workplace environments, public art, wayfinding, environmental graphics, bespoke artworks and architectural features. Acting as the central point between clients, designers, artists, architects, fabricators and specialist contractors, you will ensure each project is delivered smoothly, commercially and to an exceptional standard.

This is a hands-on, client-facing position for someone who combines strong project and account management with a practical understanding of materials, fabrication and installation. You do not need to be a technical designer, but you should be comfortable reviewing design documentation, advising on feasibility and helping translate creative intent into production-ready solutions.

The role would particularly suit someone from a public-art studio, design-and-fabrication business, environmental-design consultancy, exhibition studio, branded-environments agency or another multidisciplinary creative practice delivering permanent physical work.

What You'll Do
  • Lead multiple creative projects from initial briefing through design development, production, installation, handover and aftercare.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead client meetings, provide regular project updates and manage expectations proactively.
  • Develop detailed project programmes, schedules, milestones and delivery plans.
  • Coordinate communication between clients, designers, artists, architects, consultants, fabricators, suppliers and contractors.
  • Manage several concurrent projects and workstreams with competing deadlines.
  • Prepare project estimates, quotations, scopes and fee proposals.
  • Manage production budgets of up to approximately $1 million.
  • Monitor costs, project financial performance and profitability, providing regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Lead vendor bidding, procurement and supplier negotiations to secure the best combination of quality, value and delivery.
  • Source materials, products, fabricators, suppliers and specialist contractors.
  • Partner closely with designers to ensure creative concepts are achievable within the agreed programme and budget.
  • Advise on materials, fabrication methods, production techniques and installation approaches.
  • Translate client and creative requirements into clear scopes, production plans and supplier briefs.
  • Identify commercial, technical, programme and installation risks at an early stage.
  • Develop practical contingency plans and resolve issues before they affect delivery.
  • Coordinate site surveys, site visits, delivery logistics and installation programmes.
  • Oversee onsite installation, snagging, quality control, close-out and final handover.
  • Review production information, samples, shop drawings and supplier submissions alongside the creative and technical teams.
  • Protect the original creative intent throughout procurement, fabrication and installation.
  • Work with senior leadership to allocate internal resources and manage team workloads.
  • Support junior team members through guidance, mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Help improve project-management processes, documentation and delivery standards across the studio.
  • Travel to project sites, supplier facilities and installations when required.
What You'll Bring
  • Significant project-management experience within a creative, design-led or fabrication-focused environment.
  • Experience delivering permanent physical projects such as workplace installations, public art, environmental graphics, wayfinding, exhibitions, branded environments, custom millwork or bespoke architectural features.
  • Proven ownership of projects from briefing and design development through fabrication and installation.
  • Strong client-management experience, with the confidence to lead meetings, manage expectations and navigate challenging conversations.
  • Experience managing several complex projects simultaneously.
  • Commercial responsibility for estimates, budgets, procurement, supplier negotiations and project financial performance.
  • Experience working with production budgets approaching $1 million.
  • A practical understanding of materials, fabrication processes, manufacturing methods and installation requirements.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams of designers, artists, architects, engineers, consultants, fabricators and contractors.
  • The ability to understand and review architectural, design and technical documentation.
  • Confidence assessing creative concepts for feasibility, budget and programme implications.
  • Strong supplier and vendor-management experience, ideally with an established network across New York or the wider East Coast.
  • Experience coordinating site surveys, logistics, installations, snagging and project close-out.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to maintain oversight across multiple detailed workstreams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to risk and problem-solving.
  • Experience supporting resource planning, process improvements or junior team development.
  • An education or professional foundation in art, design, architecture, production or another relevant discipline.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software and familiarity with InDesign would be beneficial.
  • A genuine interest in art, culture, design and beautifully executed physical environments.
  • A collaborative, detail-oriented approach and a commitment to delivering work to the highest standard.
