Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead highly complex projects and outages in a matrix environment. You will provide leadership, planning, coordination, and clear communication to initiate, execute, monitor and close projects safely and efficiently, while maximizing customer satisfaction.

You’ll build strong relationships with internal/external customers, vendors, regulators, and team members; manage scope, schedule, and budget; and ensure adherence to AEP’s governance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Computer Science, or related field.
• PMP certification preferred or waiver possible.
• 7–10 years of qualified project management experience in utilities or similar.
• Experience with large-scale outages and coordinating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise assigned project/outage activities for customers.
• Apply project management principles (Waterfall, Agile) to delivery.
• Ensure safety compliance and Zero Harm in all activities.
• Lead cost management, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Prepare detailed stakeholder communications and progress reports.
• Oversee procurement, vendor contracts, and project closeout.
• Mentor junior PMs and represent AEP to customers and regulators.
