Job description

A fast-growing Texas general contractor is looking for a proven Senior Project Manager to help lead its expanding Central and South Texas operation. This is a high-visibility leadership position for someone who has successfully delivered major commercial projects and is ready to oversee an entire portfolio rather than remain tied to the daily administration of one job.

You will oversee two to three projects concurrently, each generally valued between $50M and $100M, while leading the project teams assigned to each job. The company has an established portfolio across education, government, justice, industrial, and commercial construction and is continuing to invest in its San Antonio operation.

This is an opportunity to join a growing regional team with the resources and support of an established contractor while having a meaningful voice in how projects are executed, teams are developed, and the local operation continues to expand.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Oversee two to three large, complex construction projects at the same time.
  • Lead multiple project teams consisting of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and support personnel.
  • Establish clear expectations and hold each team accountable for financial performance, scheduling, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain executive-level oversight of project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, contingency, cash flow, change management, and fee protection.
  • Review project schedules, procurement plans, subcontractor buyout, long-lead items, staffing requirements, and major operational risks.
  • Identify potential cost or schedule issues early and develop recovery strategies before they affect project performance.
  • Partner with preconstruction during estimating, constructability reviews, value engineering, procurement planning, and project turnover.
  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Lead executive project reviews and clearly communicate financial performance, staffing needs, risks, and critical decisions to company leadership.
  • Mentor Project Managers and emerging leaders while creating consistent standards across the assigned project teams.
  • Support the continued growth of the San Antonio operation through successful project delivery, client retention, and team development.
What We’re Looking For
  • Extensive commercial general contracting experience with progressive leadership as a Project Manager and Senior Project Manager.
  • A proven record of delivering large, ground-up construction projects valued at $50M or more.
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects and project teams simultaneously.
  • The ability to lead through Project Managers while remaining closely involved in critical financial, contractual, scheduling, and client-related decisions.
  • Strong knowledge of project forecasting, subcontractor buyout, contract administration, change management, procurement, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Experience with CMAR, design-build, negotiated GMP, or other collaborative delivery methods.
  • Experience in education, government, justice, institutional, industrial, or similarly complex commercial construction is highly desirable.
  • The leadership presence and communication skills to represent the company confidently with sophisticated owners and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong working knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, scheduling platforms, and standard construction-management systems.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred; comparable large-project experience will also be considered.
  • Willingness to support projects throughout San Antonio, Central Texas, and South Texas when required.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • Manage a significant portfolio of major projects rather than being limited to a single assignment.
  • Lead and develop multiple project teams with the authority to influence how work is executed.
  • Join a growing San Antonio operation where your performance and leadership will be highly visible.
  • Work directly with regional and executive leadership instead of being separated by multiple layers of management.
  • Build projects that have a lasting impact across education, government, justice, industrial, and commercial markets.
  • Join a culture that values accountability, collaboration, initiative, and giving proven leaders real responsibility.
  • Position yourself for continued advancement as the regional portfolio, client base, and team continue to grow.
