Job summary

Amtrak seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead large-scale capital and environmental remediation construction projects across the United States. You will own end-to-end performance, including scope, budget, schedule, risk, and stakeholder management, coordinating with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
• Plus 7 years of relevant work experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Plus 9 years of relevant work experience.
• Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
• Monitor project progress, costs, and consultant/contractor performance; implement corrective actions as needed to address schedule, budget, or scope challenges.
• Identify, assess, manage, and communicate project risks, issues, and changes, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate escalation.
• Develop and maintain project management documentation in accordance with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Prepare and deliver project reports, analyses, and presentations for senior leadership, executive governance committees, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
• Establish collaborative partnerships to support project scoping, financial planning, resource allocation, and achievement of project objectives.
