Job summary

Amtrak seeks a Director Environmental Programs to lead environmental compliance across the system and to maintain the Amtrak Environmental Management System (EMS). You will oversee remediation and risk reduction projects, reporting to management with progress updates and milestones.

In this role you will manage budgeting, internal controls, and training programs while guiding a cross-functional team of environmental professionals and facility managers across Amtrak locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, related sciences, or Environmental Management.
• 10+ years of experience managing environmental compliance programs and EMS.
• Experience managing environmental remediation projects.
• Supervisory experience in environmental field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development of environmental procedures and guidance documents for compliance with environmental laws.
• Develop strategic plan and metrics for Amtrak's environmental program.
• Direct environmental training programs for compliance.
• Lead and coordinate EMS steering committee and cross-company initiatives.
