Senior Project Executive – Data Centers (General Contractor)

Location: Remote/hybrid

Position Overview

A rapidly growing data center General Contractor is seeking an accomplished Senior Project Executive to provide executive-level leadership for the delivery of large-scale, hyperscale, and colocation data center developments across the United States.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for providing strategic oversight across the full project lifecycle, from preconstruction and development planning through construction execution, commissioning, and final turnover.

The Senior Project Executive will establish project strategy, lead senior project and construction teams, oversee commercial and operational performance, and serve as a key executive liaison between the client, development partners, design teams, contractors, consultants, vendors, and internal leadership.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record delivering complex, high-value mission-critical projects and programs, with the leadership presence and commercial acumen to manage multiple stakeholders, mitigate risk, drive accountability, and consistently achieve safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior executive leadership and strategic direction for major data center construction projects and programs.
• Establish project execution strategies, governance structures, delivery objectives, and performance expectations.
• Provide oversight across multiple projects, sites, and delivery teams as required.
• Act as a senior representative of the organization with clients, developers, investors, consultants, contractors, and strategic partners.
• Drive executive-level decision-making, issue resolution, and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.

Preconstruction & Development

• Provide executive oversight of preconstruction strategy, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, constructability, and risk management.
• Partner with development and design leadership to establish realistic project execution plans and delivery milestones.
• Review and challenge project budgets, schedules, procurement strategies, and contingency requirements.
• Support project pursuits, proposals, client presentations, and strategic business development initiatives.

Construction Delivery

• Lead and oversee the successful execution of hyperscale and colocation data center facilities.
• Provide leadership to Project Managers, Construction Managers, Superintendents, and broader project delivery teams.
• Establish consistent project controls, reporting standards, construction processes, and operational best practices.
• Monitor project performance against cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contractual commitments.
• Identify emerging risks and implement corrective strategies before they impact project objectives.
• Maintain executive oversight of project financial performance, forecasting, cash flow, change management, and commercial risk.
• Review and approve major change orders, commitments, contracts, and procurement decisions within delegated authority.
• Partner with commercial and finance teams to maintain accurate cost forecasts and financial reporting.
• Lead resolution of significant contractual, commercial, and stakeholder issues.

Stakeholder & Team Leadership

• Build strong relationships with clients, developers, design partners, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and internal leadership.
• Align development, engineering, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams around common project objectives.
• Mentor and develop senior project leadership, creating a high-performing and accountable delivery organization.
• Establish a culture centered on safety, quality, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Provide executive oversight of commissioning, systems testing, integrated systems testing (IST), and operational readiness.
• Coordinate closely with commissioning agents, facility operations teams, and project stakeholders.
• Ensure successful completion of punch lists, documentation, closeout, and final facility turnover.
• Drive lessons learned and continuous improvement across future projects and programs.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive experience in construction management, project delivery, or program leadership.
• 7+ years of experience delivering data center, mission-critical, advanced technology, industrial, or similarly complex infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience providing senior leadership on large-scale, high-value construction programs.
• Proven track record managing complex projects from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover.
• Experience leading and developing senior project management and construction teams.
• Strong understanding of construction delivery models, contracts, estimating, procurement, cost control, scheduling, and risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and resolve complex commercial, technical, and operational issues.
• Experience working directly with developers, owners, hyperscale clients, or institutional stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of mission-critical construction, including electrical and mechanical infrastructure, redundancy, commissioning, and operational readiness.
• Experience with construction and project management platforms such as Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• Strong executive communication, negotiation, leadership, and relationship-management skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites across the United States.
