Job summary

Sedgman is recruiting for a Project Estimator to drive estimates for mining and mineral processing projects. Based in Phoenix, Vancouver or Montreal, you will lead preparation of accurate cost estimates, coordinate with engineers and stakeholders, and oversee estimating databases, templates and cost records.

The role requires 10+ years in engineering/construction estimating in mining, experience with AACE Class 1-5, and familiarity with @Risk.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience estimating within engineering or construction environments in the mining industry.
• Experience in developing estimates from AACE Class 1 to Class 5.
• Experience with @Risk or similar risk management software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including high-level proofreading and document quality control.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate estimates for multiple studies/projects simultaneously.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders and cross-functional teams when developing cost estimates.
• Experience with estimating systems, databases, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, for studies/projects, ensuring alignment with time, cost, and quality targets.
• Lead and collaborate with engineers, and stakeholders to develop estimates and risk assessments.
• Maintain and improve estimating systems, databases, templates, and cost records, including final design take-offs.
• Track, report, and manage estimating activities.
• Establish, maintain, and continuously improve estimating databases, price books, templates, and spreadsheets.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating risk management processes and tools.
